Reconnect with your university community this July!

We all have powerful memories of our Freshers’ Week and setting foot on campus for the very first time. But why should the fun stop after graduation?

The 2024 Alumni Re-Fresher Weekend is your opportunity to relive your university days and reinvigorate your love for Newcastle.

We hope you'll join us, wherever you are in the world, from Friday 12 - Sunday 14 July for a jam-packed weekend of connecting with each other, developing professionally and personally, and discovering new horizons.

Highlights of the programme include:

  • Annual Meeting of Convocation: Hear the latest developments from your university and alumni community. This is also an opportunity for you to share your thoughts to help shape the future of Newcastle University.
  • Convocation Debate: Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger: How sport creates super-humans and super-communities. Explore with our panel of sporting experts what it means to be both extraordinary and ethical in the world of sports. Panellists include Sir Brendan Foster CBE (honorary graduate, British former long-distance runner, athletics commentator and founder of the Great North Run) and Mike Oakes (Newcastle University graduate and Director of Communications at The Enhanced Games).
  • Alumni summer social: Vino with a view! Reconnect with alumni at our wine tasting event, whilst taking in panoramic views of the city from the tallest building in Newcastle.
  • Campus tours: Take a trip down memory lane and explore our beloved main campus or check out our recent expansion at the Newcastle Helix site.
  • Walking food tour: Discover Newcastle’s vibrant culinary scene with local award-winning organisation Triple A Food Tours, who will escort you through the city on foot to a number of delicious eateries.
  • Re-Fresher workshops: Join a series of free 1-hour workshops with experts from across our university community and local partners to help you develop professionally and personally.

Don't worry if you are unable to join us on campus, you can still sign up to attend the Annual Meeting of Convocation and Convocation Debate virtually (both taking place on Saturday 13 July).
