Find out about the different ways to pay your tuition fees
We recommend that fee payments are always paid directly to the University by the student or family member to avoid fraud. Any payments found to be fraudulent will be removed from the student’s account. The student may be asked to pay again, and may be disciplined if it is discovered they were acting complicitly. For more information on fraud see our tuition fee fraud section.
Pay your tuition fees by a single payment to receive a 2% discount. Or you can pay by instalments, using a variety of payment methods.
To ensure a smooth registration process, we recommend you arrange payment before arriving in Newcastle.
University tuition fees are not subject to exchange control regulations for Chinese students.
Newcastle University takes payment security very seriously. We work with our bank and our payment service providers to provide you with safe secure platforms for you to pay your fees.
Where the University is unable to receive payments that involve either directly or indirectly countries that are subject to varying degrees of economic sanctions, students may need to make alternative arrangements to pay their fees.
Current countries affected by banking sanctions are:
- Iran
- Venezuela
- Cuba
- Syria
- Crimea
- Donetsk People’s Republic (a.k.a. DNR)
- Luhansk People’s Republic (a.k.a. LNR)
- Kherson
- Zaporizhzhia
If you are planning to make a payment from any of the areas above, please complete the Newcastle University Pre-Payment Advice Form and await guidance from a member of our finance team.

The University has worked hard to develop good relationships with providers who can offer the most favourable payment methods and the most choice. In addition, we know that these platforms are safe and secure which is something our students have said was important to them. Newcastle University uses the same platforms as many UK Universities and offers a choice in provider with Convera and Flywire.
Please take time to compare the rates with both providers before you make your decision. Bank transfer is often the most favourable rate. Convera and Flywire currently offer a price promise for payments by Bank transfer to give you confidence that you are getting a competitive price.
Unfortunately, if you pay using an overseas card you are not able to make payments in GBP using these cards. We suggest that before contacting your bank and loading overseas cards in GBP to make a payment for your fees, you look at the payment platforms and look to see if that option is offered.
For every payment you make to Convera you must ensure you go through the process of receiving a new quote. This is so your payment is identified and allocated to your tuition fee account.
Please note that payments originating from the following areas cannot be made through Convera:
- North Korea
- Iran
- Cuba

- Crimea region (Ukraine, Russia)
- Specially Designated Nationals (SDNs)
Please contact our tuition fees team to discuss alternative payment arrangements.
